# MCP server for US home internet availability and prices

Last updated: October 21, 2026

Commerce for Agents is a free remote MCP server for AI agents. Its `compare-broadband` tool answers “which internet providers serve this address, and what do they cost?” for any US street address, from the FCC Broadband Data Collection plus starting prices checked on each provider's own site.

## Endpoint

```
https://mcp.commerceforagents.com/mcp
```

Streamable HTTP, no API key, no account. Listed in the official MCP Registry as `com.commerceforagents/commerceforagents`. Setup for ChatGPT and Claude is on the [connect page](https://commerceforagents.com/connect).

## Tool input

- `address`: US street address including city and state or ZIP. Or give `lat` and `lon`.
- `minDownloadMbps` (optional): only providers advertising at least this download speed.
- `technology` (optional): any of `fiber`, `cable`, `dsl`, `fixed_wireless`, `satellite`, `other`.

```
{"name": "compare-broadband", "arguments": {"address": "1400 John F Kennedy Blvd, Philadelphia, PA 19107"}}
```

## What comes back

Each provider reported for the census block, with technology, maximum advertised download and upload, a high-latency flag, and a starting price where we have one. Structured content has `providers`, `coverageNote`, `pricingNote` and `source`. An excerpt from a live call for the address above (October 2026):

```
1. Xfinity — cable, 1200/35 Mbps — from $45/mo (300 Mbps, 5-year price; with AutoPay and paperless billing; plus taxes and fees; checked 2026-10-19)
2. Starlink — satellite, 280/30 Mbps — from $55/mo (Residential 100 Mbps; hardware extra; checked 2026-10-13)
3. AT&T — fixed_wireless, 100/20 Mbps
4. T-Mobile — fixed_wireless, 100/20 Mbps — from $50/mo (5G Home Internet Rely, with AutoPay; checked 2026-10-13)
```

Starting prices currently cover AT&T fiber, Verizon, T-Mobile, Spectrum, Xfinity, Optimum fiber, Google Fiber, Quantum Fiber, Brightspeed, Starlink, Viasat and HughesNet. Other providers are listed without a price. How the data is selected is on [how we compare](https://commerceforagents.com/comparison-basis); city-level coverage is in [internet providers in 25 US cities](https://commerceforagents.com/guides/internet-providers).

## Other tools on the same server

## FAQ

### Is there an MCP server for comparing US internet providers?

Yes. Commerce for Agents runs a free remote MCP server at https://mcp.commerceforagents.com/mcp. Its compare-broadband tool takes a US street address and returns the providers the FCC has on file for that census block, with technology, top speeds, latency and, for priced providers, a starting price with its conditions.

### Does it need an API key?

No. There is no key and no account. The server speaks MCP over Streamable HTTP, so any MCP client that supports remote servers can add the URL.

### Where do the prices come from?

Starting prices are the cheapest standalone plan on each provider's own website, checked by hand with the date and source URL in every result. Prices older than 45 days are dropped. The FCC data itself contains no prices.

### Is the address stored?

No. The address is geocoded with the US Census geocoder to find the census block and is not stored or logged.
